The Spectacular CAPE PENINSULA & CAPE OF GOOD HOPE
After a leisurely breakfast, you will meet your Safari Director for a full-day tour around the spectacular Cape Peninsula.
The first stop will be for the great view over Camps Bay Beach which attracts large numbers of holidaymakers and celebrities every day. We continue past the beautiful Hout Bay fishing harbour to cross over the spectacular Chapmans Peak Drive on our way to Cape Point National Park.
At Cape Point, we visit the historic "Old Lighthouse" to enjoy the spectacular view of the Atlantic Ocean coastline and our second stop is at The Cape of Good Hope to take some great pictures.
From here we continue on to Boulders Beach where we visit the breeding colony of African Penguins and do a guided tour of the reserve. We continue on to Simonstown, the only naval port in South Africa and learn about the famous Royal Navy recruit in the late 1930s, a Great Dane breed of dog named Just Nuisance.
This is also a great place for lunch with several great dining options available. After lunch we travel to the oldest wine region in South Africa, the Constantia Wine Region and we end the eventful day back at your hotel in the late afternoon.
The Beautiful CAPE WINELANDS
We depart after breakfast to explore the beautiful Cape Winelands. We start with a Cellar Tour in a century-old KWV wine cellar that covers an area of approximately 50 acres. This is followed by your first tasting of some award-winning wines, aperitives, and spirits produced at the cellar.
Our next stop is at Fairview Wine Estate where we enjoy a Master Wine & Cheese Pairing. All the wines and cheese varieties are created and manufactured on the estate. There is the opportunity to enjoy a lunch in the Goatshed Bistro should you still need a bite to eat after all the wine, cheese, and home-baked bread with Olive Oils at the pairing.
We continue on to Stellenbosch to explore this beautiful university town that is known as the "Capital" of our wine industry. We stop off at Simonsig Wine Estate for our last wine tasting of the day (time permitting) before heading back to the popular Victoria & Alfred Waterfront for you to explore some opportunities for retail therapy and enjoy the culinary delights on offer.
Tonight you may dine at any one of the fine restaurants dotted around the V&A Waterfront and return to your hotel in your own time.
TABLE MOUNTAIN & HISTORIC CAPE TOWN
Today we explore the historical city of Cape Town and go up Table Mountain with the Aerial Cableway for a guided tour of the tabletop. After the great views from the top of Table Mountain, we enjoy a tour through the Historical City Center and the colorful area of Bo Kaap ending off at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.
This afternoon you have the time to explore the area in your own time. The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront abounds with fantastic craft stores, historical sites, and the very new Zeits Mocca Museum of Contemporary Art that has become a highlight of a visit to the area.
You have the opportunity to do the Robben Island excursion which should be booked well in advance. You may also consider taking a helicopter ride to view Cape Town and the Cape Peninsula from the air, taking a sunset champagne cruise along the coast to Clifton, or explore the vibrant Waterfront with all its bars and fine restaurants.
The WHALE COAST and the MARINE BIG 5 TOUR
Today we travel from Cape Town through the Apple & Pear producing areas of Elgin to the village of Gansbaai located on the Whale Coast.
We board the Dreamcatcher, a custom-designed boat built to enhance your viewing experience of the Whale and Marine species while doing the Marine Big Five Tour on Walker Bay. The Marine Biologist and crew on board will provide in-depth information about the abundance of marine species that may be seen as well as the challenges that marine species face based on their ongoing research.
We return to the land and you are treated to a cup of wonderful hot vegetable soup and rolls to settle your "sea legs". From Gansbaai we travel back along the coastline to Hermanus which is recognized as one of the premier land-based Whale Viewing areas in the world. Spend some time on the Whale Walk built along the 30 meter (90 foot) high cliffs and watch the Southern Right Whales playing in the ocean below, sometimes within a few meters of the cliffs.
We return to Cape Town via the scenic Clarens Drive taking us through Betty's Bay and along the False Bay Coastline back to Cape Town.
Rise early again to enjoy your last Game Drive on this magical Safari returning to the lodge for another scrumptious breakfast.
