Cape to Wilderness Safari – A Fair Trade Malaria Free Safari
Tour Description
On arrival at the Cape Town International Airport you will meet your Safari Director in the arrivals terminal. Depending on your time of arrival we will either head straight to the hotel or detour via the Majestic Table Mountain to go up the mountain in the Cableway for a guided tour of the Table Top.
Once your room is ready we will head off to the hotel where you can check-in and put up your feet to rest.
After a leisurely breakfast you will meet your Safari Director in the foyer and depart for the scenic drive around the Cape Peninsula.
Our first stop is at Cape Point National Park where you may take the Flying Dutchman Funicular for a short ride up the hill to the Old Lighthouse. If you are feeling fit you may choose to do the brisk walk to the lighthouse instead.
We stop off at the Cape of Good Hope for some pictures and then we exit the park to our next stop at Boulders Beach where we do a guided tour of the African Penguin Colony.
We continue on to Simonstown to learn about Just Nuisance, the most famous dog in the Royal Navy during the early 1940's. There are several fine restaurants where you may have your lunch.
We then return to the hotel via the spectacular Chapmans Peak Drive with great views over Hout Bay.
We depart after breakfast to explore the beautiful Cape Winelands. We start with a Cellar Tour in a century old wine cellar that covers approximately 50 acres of ground followed by your first tasting of some award winning wines.
Our next stop is at Fairview Wine Estate where we enjoy a Wine & Cheese Pairing. All the wines and cheese varieties are created and manufactured on the estate. There is the opportunity to enjoy a lunch in the Goatshed Bistro should you still need a bite to eat after all the wine and cheese at the pairing.
We continue on to Stellenbosch to explore this beautiful university town that is known as the "Capital" of our wine industry. We stop off at Simonsig Wine Estate for our last wine tasting of the day (time permitting) before heading in to the popular Victoria & Alfred Waterfront for you to explore some opportunities of retail therapy and enjoy the culinary delights on offer.
Tonight you may dine at any one of the fine restaurants dotted around the V&A Waterfront and return to your hotel in your own time.
We check out of our lodge after breakfast and travel to the region known as the Little Karoo. This is home to the Ostrich Industry in South Africa.
This afternoon you will do a tour on the Safari Ostrich Showfarm to learn more about these amazing birds.
We check in late in the afternoon at our lodge, De Zeekoe, which is located on the adjoining farm producing the key fodder used for feeding the ostriches, Lucerne also known as Alfalfa.
It is an early call this morning in order to travel to the Meerkat den and be in position by sunrise as the cute little Meerkats (Suricate) emerge from their den a short while after sunrise.
We only observe the Meerkats going about their morning rituals and we do not interfere or interact with them directly. They may come very close to us because we are seen as part of the landscape which the Meerkats discovered upon emerging from their den this morning.
We return to the lodge for a leisurely breakfast before checking out to continue our journey to Knysna where you may enjoy lunch at the Knysna Waterfront or similar.
After lunch we have another one hour drive to reach the very quaint Storms River Village where we book in at the Storms River Village Inn.
This morning we join Tsitsikamma Canopy Tours for a great adventure and do the tree top canopy tour after which we could enjoy a real 1960's dining experience at Marilyn's Diner.
Tsitsikamma Canopy Tours is FAIR TRADE ACCREDITED and they do sterling work to uplift the community and to preserve our environment.
After lunch we will take a short drive to an area known as The Crags and visit the largest free roaming primate sanctuary in the world, Monkeyland and the adjoining Birds of Eden Free-Flight Bird Sanctuary. These are wonderful uplifting experiences to end your day of adventure.
We have an early breakfast and drive to the Amakhala Nature Reserve in the Malaria Free Zone of the Eastern Cape to arrive in time for lunch.
You will say farewell to your Safari Director after arrival at Amakhala as the Rangers and Reserve professionals will take care of you for the next two days. You will be with the same Ranger for all your wildlife viewing activities.
You will have lunch and check in to your suites and have a some time to relax at the pool before you meet your Ranger and go out on the first Game Drive. You return in time for dinner and a well-deserved rest.
Today you will view the wild animals in their natural habitat. You go out early for the morning Game Drive returning for a late breakfast.
Lunch is served around midday and then you do the evening Game Drive returning a little after sunset in time for dinner.
Talk to your Ranger about the other great guided activities that are available to do during the day.
This morning you do your last Game Drive with your Ranger.
Your Safari ends after breakfast and you will check out. Your transfer vehicle will be waiting to take you to the Port Elizabeth Airport for your included flight back to Cape Town where you may check-in for your international flight.
