Tour Description

Journey across South Africa on a Cape to Kruger adventure.

Enjoy the beauty and rich culture of Cape Town. Taste award-winning wines and explore the Cape Winelands. Finish in Kruger National Park on Safari with the Big Five and much more in the best of luxury lodges at the exclusive Lion Sands Reserve.

Day 1 -Fly directly to Cape Town International Airport.

Meet the representative from Africa’s Child Safaris and transfer to the luxurious Cellars Hohenhort Hotel (or similar) in the oldest wine region of South Africa, Constantia. This is a 3 night stay with breakfast included.

Prepare for your included excursion to ascend Table Mountain in the late afternoon. Weather permitting.

 

Day 2  – A full day Private Tour around the Cape Peninsula and explore the Cape of Good Hope.

We follow the scenic Chapmans Peak drive to visit Cape Point Nature Reserve and The Cape of Good Hope.

A short drive along the False Bay shoreline takes us to African Penguin colony at Boulders Beach.

Your three course lunch at Seaforth Restaurant is included today.

Following our lunch, we drive across the peninsula to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront for some retail therapy. There, you have the opportunity to enjoy an early dinner at one of the many wonderful restaurants in the complex before returning to your hotel.

Day 3  – Cape Winelands full day tour.

The Cape Winelands is a scenic 30 minutes’ drive from downtown Cape Town. We explore the sights of two historic towns — Stellenbosch and Franschhoek.

We visit three wine regions and taste the award-winning wines on offer, ending the day with a Master Wine and Cheese pairing of eight estate wines and cheese created on the wine estate.

Day 4 – Flight from Cape Town to Kruger National Park

At mid-morning, you depart from Cape Town International Airport and fly directly into Kruger National Park and land at Skukuza Airport.

Your dedicated Ranger will meet you at the airport and drive the short distance to Lion Sands Reserve and the luxurious Tinga Lodge. You will stay for 2 nights at Full Board in luxury free-standing Chalets with your own private plunge pool on the deck.

Following high tea in the afternoon, you depart on the first game drive with your dedicated Ranger and Tracker, returning to the lodge after sunset.

Day 5 – Day of activities at Tinga Lodge

The included activities for today are an early morning game drive of approximately three hours to view the wildlife in their natural habitat, returning to the lodge for a scrumptious breakfast at around 09:00. You have some free time during the day to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the lodge’s surroundings. You may be fortunate enough to see Buffalo and Elephant come to drink at the Sabie River in front of your chalet. Following high tea in the afternoon, you depart on the evening game drive with your dedicated Ranger and Tracker returning after sunset.

Day 6  – Flight to Johannesburg

After a relaxed breakfast you can check out at your leisure and be transferred back to the airport for your flight to Johannesburg where you connect with your international flight.

 

Payment is required in South African Rand at the exchange rate applicable on the day of payment.

    After meeting Quinton in Capetown for an incredible day trip in 2018 for a day trip to Stellenbosch wine country and listening to his adventures in East Africa, we immediately put that trip on a shortlist of places to visit in the near future.

    So, in the lifting stages of the pandemic, in early 2021, we knew exactly who to reach out to, to FINALLY make this trip happen! Africa Explore Safaris helped us to create our dream trip to Kenya and Tanzania in Sep/Oct 2021. Words can't even explain how magical/ memorable this trip was, a total of 21 days on a private safari. From the designing stage of our dream trip (whatever we wanted, they worked into the schedule) and all throughout the trip itself, Africa Explore Safaris was always just a phone call away and eager to help us however they could.

    Especially nice to have a calming/committed voice when you get to the airport and find out the airlines canceled your flight. 🙃 That was our only "issue" on the trip, after that it was smooth and INCREDIBLE sailing the entire way. Both our local guides (1 in each country) were wonderful! Very knowledgeable men with a clear passion for sharing their AMAZING countries with travelers).

    Thank you to Quinton and Abby for making this bucket list dream come true! We look forward to traveling to more parts of that beautiful continent in the future. Still need to see those sharks in Gansbaai and get back for whale season in Hermanus! 😉

    Just a quick note about the pandemic, since it's on the forefront of many traveller's minds right now. From the US we had to provide a negative PCR test within 3 days of travel (US requirement for most international travel). In Kenya we tested again to be allowed into Tanzania and the same when leaving Tanzania to get back home. These tests were EASY! Quick testing sites at a camp in Serengeti, Tanzania and in Kenya they used a mobile service and the guy actually got in a hazmat suit in our van to perform the test. We got a kick out of that. Both countries had social distancing mandates still in place and left the wearing of masks up to the individual businesses. Everywhere we went staff were wearing masks and in crowded public areas of the camps, we were asked to wear masks when not eating/drinking. We are very careful still, even in our home in Arizona, so none of those was an inconvenience to us. Both countries appear to really care about the safety and wellbeing of tourists and members of the communities we were visiting ... also, I should mention now is a GREAT time to go on safari. 18 months ago the world shut down and the consensus from the locals in each country was that the animals appeared to be less shy around safari vehicles because of it. When you have an expert guide in your truck with almost 20 years of experience who's never seen a leopard in Aberdare and we had 1 just casually stroll down the road towards us. In Tanzania our guide with over 15 years of experience never saw a cheetah kill in person, we witnessed a mom hunt for her 3 cubs right in front of us (like we weren't even there). Both countries had elephants walking right up to our truck basically unbothered, etc.

    Our animal experiences were OUT of this world! DON'T LET THE PANDEMIC STOP YOU FROM GOING TO AFRICA. It's open and as magical as you always imagined it to be! 💜

    My husband and I originally booked a safari outside of Cape Town. The package provided transportation to and from the reserve. We had no expectations for the driver. In the end, we were blown away by our driver, Quinton. Quinton has a vast knowledge of everything and he went above and beyond to provide us with an unforgettable South African experience. Quinton planned out site seeing day tours that were packed full with activities, great food and lovely wines. We would highly recommend Quinton to anyone and everyone.

    Quinton picked us up from Cape Town at 6am and drove us to Inverdoorn reserve in his very comfortable Discovery. The 2 hour drive flew by as he provided us with a wealth of information about the history of South Africa past and present.Having arrived at the reserve we had a look around and then enjoyed a delicious breakfast. Quinton drove us back to Cape Town by a different route and again provided us with a wealth of information about the countryside.We thoroughly enjoyed our day and felt that it was excellent value for money

    I had the privilege and pleasure of travelling with Quinton Conroy on our tour to South Africa in May 2009.
    My husband and I had a wonderful time and enjoyed so many rich and varied experiences of life in South Africa and this entailed an amazing knowledge of so many different aspects of life in S.A. Quinton’s knowledge base was, for us, unsurpassed and he deserves to be recognized for his wealth of knowledge and his accessible manner in presenting it.

    Vivien and I had a wonderful holiday in South Africa during May 2009. The tour itinerary was busy, varied and, both geographically and culturally, covered a fair chunk of ground.
    We were very fortunate in travelling with Quinton Conroy for a trip of this breadth and depth. I well remember my first impressions of Quinton when he introduced himself to me in the lobby of the Forever Centurion Hotel in Lyttleton. His physical presence, smart appearance and welcoming smile set the tone for the remainder of the trip. Quinton was always very professional and business-like in all matters but, perhaps more importantly, he was also very enthusiastic and well informed about all aspects of his country. An easy going but confident personality allowed him to mix well with the varied characters in our tour party and provided the necessary degree of security required on such a trip.
    Quite simply, we are of the opinion that our South African holiday, our ruby wedding treat, was greatly enhanced by having Quinton as our tour manager.

    Quinton Conroy – Africa’s Child Safaris
    I have just returned from a two week holiday in South Africa.
    We flew from the UK to Port Elizabeth via Johannesburg. In Port Elizabeth we were met by a smiling Quinton Conroy who became our friend for the rest of the holiday. The “rest of the holiday” entailed traveling along the Garden Route to Cape Town. I therefore feel qualified to comment on Quinton’s abilities.
    I have been traveling for over forty years and can assure you that Quinton is the best Tour Manager I have ever had the good luck to encounter.
    He managed the tour in the literal sense of the word. His organizational skills were second to none. A good guide does so much in the background that the tour seems to run itself. Quinton belongs to that category. He even anticipated where there might be a problem and solved it before it happened. Nothing was too much trouble for him.
    We were always fully informed about the program and any changes that had to be made. He was excellent at organizing the individual desires of the group members with regard to additional tours.
    His local knowledge was second to none, be it about the flora and fauna or the history of his country. He inspired us too with the obvious love which he had for his country. You could tell that he wanted us to love it too.
    And last but not least, his personality made him a pleasure to be with. He was always happy and smiling and was a really good companion.
