Amboseli National Park

Amboseli National Park is located in Southern Kenya at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. The most spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro are to be seen from Amboseli.

Amboseli National Park is actually located in the rain “shadow” of Mount Kilimanjaro with the moisture-bearing winds blowing in over the foothills of the mountain from the Indian Ocean in the East. The rain falls on the eastern side resulting in a fairly arid environment in Amboseli.

HOWEVER, the water from the melting snow of the permanent snowcap on top of Mount Kilimanjaro feeds into Amboseli National Park causing a large wetland that supports a large wildlife population and numerous large herds of Elephant. It is a spectacular park to visit on safari and definitely one of the wildlife Jewels of Kenya.
